JENN AND JOE | Castle Green Pasadena Engagement Photos
I have been looking forward to blogging Jenn and Joe’s engagement session since I photographed them two weeks ago. We met up at Castle Green in Pasadena, where they will be having their wedding in October. It was partially to scout, and also to make a few photos while we were there. I can not say enough great things about Jenn and Joe. How they treat each other, how they treat other people: they have to be the sweetest most genuine people I’ve met in a very long time. They compliment each other perfectly, and I love how every time I would tell them to just be themselves, Joe had this very tender way of being with Jenn. It honestly made me smile and happy as I was shooting. We spent some time inside Castle Green, shooting in the different rooms which I knew will not be empty during the actual wedding so we decided to take full advantage. They had this old antique working elevator which was amazing to shoot through as well. After that, we walked outside to the garden area and got some more photos there before heading down to Pasadena City Hall.
Pasadena City Hall is an amazing location. I’ve photographed several engagement sessions as well as several weddings there so I’m familiar with the architecture and hidden spots. However, once I knocked out a few shots which I know are there, I wanted to try something a little different. Jenn and Joe went up to the second level where it overlooked the courtyard. I explained to them more or less the pose I wanted and I had my assistant, Alvin, go up with them and set up a light as well. Very often I give a general idea for a pose, and I like my couples to fill in the blanks and make it more personable to them. I had an idea in mind and I loved how Jenn and Joe pop out with the amazing architecture surrounding them. After a great session at Pasadena City Hall we decided to walk down a few blocks to do a small night session in a more city area. As some of you know, I love shooting at night because I feel like it has a completely different mood and I love the blurry lights that you get at night.
Jenn and Joe are such a fantastic couple to be around. Their wedding can not come fast enough. I feel like not only did I photograph a beautiful couple in love, but like I just made new friends. Jenn and Joe: please continue being just the way you are. I can’t wait to continue documenting your love story!
